What Inmates are Sharing….
We receive hundreds of inspiring letters every year, here are just some of those quotes that really touched our hearts:
“I’d like to thank you for all the hard work you do, which helps to ease the suffering of incarcerated people and their families. Learning and practicing them has been transformative in my life and it is because of the dedication and compassion of organizations like yours that I am afforded the opportunity to broaden my understanding and improve the practices.”
Feedback from Coursebook One:
“This is really fantastic! I want so badly to live this way, I feel like I’ve recommitted myself to the path and my practice is starting to extend beyond the cushion again. Thank you so much for giving me and people like me the chance to find our real self, for the benefit of every sentient being.”
“Thank you, again, for spending the time and energy to create such a wonderful resource and directing your loving-kindness and your compassion towards a marginalized community. May your efforts continue to ease our suffering and the suffering of our victims, which was caused by our self-centered greed, anger, and ignorance. May forgiveness and reconciliation foster healing and may we cultivate it all for the sake of all beings.”
Feedback from Coursebook Two:
“I just finished and really enjoyed it. I especially like the section on the five precepts. How many of us would not be in prison by following these five simple guidelines?? Thank you for all your hard work and time creating these books.”
“…your workbook and lessons gave me the tools I needed to be able to understand more about myself and others. I was also completing your workbook, working on my wounded inner child… The two studies together have helped me more than you could know.”
“I have read and studied (took notes from) at least 20 books that I’ve ordered from BAUS and Bodhicitta Behind Bars is definitely one of the best Buddhist books. I learned so much. Your writing is very good and easy to learn from. I love the way you word some things. You made my understanding of the four noble truths much clearer and deeper.… I like the way you keep things simple.”
